SUBJECT: East-West Corridor Connectivity Study
Request for November 3, 2008 City Council Work Session
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to seek approval to have a work session with the
City Council prior to its November 3, 2008 meeting to discuss the East-West Corridor
Connectivity Study.
BACKGROUND
On July 22, 2008, an agreement was signed between the City and HDR Engineering,
Inc. (HDR) of Omaha, Nebraska, to provide professional engineering, consulting, and
related services for the East-West Corridor Connectivity Study. The purpose of the
study is to: analyze the east-west traffic flow in the City; identify corridor improvements
or modifications to support growing traffic demands; and to consider transit needs,
pedestrian needs, and sustainability.
DISCUSSION
HDR, along with IIW Engineers & Surveyors, PC (IIW), have completed approximately
one-third of the project's design phase.
The Engineering Department would like to have HDR present to the City Council its
preliminary observations and to seek input on the project direction.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
With your approval, the Engineering Department will coordinate with HDR and IIW to
host a November 3, 2008 City Council work session to discuss the East-West Corridor
Connectivity Study.
