Proclamation Be a Santa to a Senior Month 2008
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, Home Instead Senior Care will
begin its second annual non-profit program, “Be a Santa to a
Senior.” Local non-profit organizations will identify needy and
isolated seniors and provide lists of coded names to Home Instead
Senior Care for the Santa Program; and
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, two decorated Christmas trees
will be placed in the K-Mart and Wal-Mart stores so holiday shoppers
can pick out a coded senior’s ornament, buy the items on the list,
and return the gifts to the store. Home Instead Senior Care will then
wrap these gifts and deliver them to the participating organizations
where the gifts will be distributed to the seniors
.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2008, AS
“BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR MONTH”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, IN CELEBRATION OF HOME INSTEAD’S
COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY SENIORS AND ENCOURAGE GIFT GIVING AND
COMPANIONSHIP TO ISOLATED SENIORS DURING THE BUSY HOLIDAY
SEASON.
