Proclamation Veterans Appreciation Day 2008
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, every citizen of Dubuque enjoys the rights of Life, Liberty, and the
Pursuit of Happiness, which is stated in our Declaration of
Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights; and
WHEREAS, our rights and freedoms are being protected by the brave men and
women of the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREASthe Veterans of Dubuque and our nation have served and bled for
,
freedom in such places as Normandy, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Seoul,
Saigon, and now in places such as Mosul, Baghdad, and Kandahar;
and
WHEREASIowa Workforce Development in the city of Dubuque, Iowa, has
,
selected the month of November, 2008, for the display of patriotism
to our veterans and the sacrifices they have made.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA,
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO
HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2008, AS
“VETERANS APPRECIATION MONTH”
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, IN CELEBRATION OF OUR VETERANS AND
THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS THEY PROTECT.
