Colts Drum and Bugle Corps Resolution of SupportMembers of the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee: SUBJECT: Inaugural Parade Participation by the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps On behalf of the City of Dubuque and the City Council, it gives me great pleasure to write to support the selection of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps for the 2009 Inaugural Parade. We are proud to have the Colts spend each summer touring the country as representatives of Dubuque, and as "Iowa's Ambassadors of Music." They represent all the best attributes of our young people -extraordinary musical talent, dedication to discipline and hard work, and the knowledge that success requires long-term focus and commitment to each other. In the face of challenging times for non-profit groups the Colts also continue to give back to the Dubuque community. They are heavily involved with the Dubuque Public Schools as supporters of music programs for underserved youth and provide extracurricular programs including a steel drum ensemble, a youth chorale, and a summer band program. I can honestly say that the Colts have changed the lives of thousands of individual young people in our area. In addition they provide national visibility to our community and each year draw visitors from across the region to Dubuque. In sum, we would be extremely proud to see Dubuque's own Colts Drum and Bugle Corps marching down Pennsylvania Avenue as part of the 2009 Inaugural Parade. This will be a historic event and we hope that you will select the Colts to represent Iowa and to honor President-Elect Obama. Sincerely, Roy Buol Mayor, City of Dubuque Preparer: Barry A. Lindahl, Esq.
