The Dubuque City Council met in special session at 5 p.m. on July 6, 2009 in the
Historic Federal Building
Present: Mayor Buol, Council Members Braig, Connors, Jones, Lynch, Resnick,
Voetberg, City Manager Van Milligen, City Attorney Lindahl
Mayor Buol read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council to
discuss the Port of Dubuque Riverfront Marina.
WORK SESSION
Dubuque Riverfront Marina
Assistant City Engineer Bob Schiesl provided project background and introduced
design consultants Bill Brose and John Kretschman, of JJR, LLC, 625 Williams Street,
Madison, WI, who provided a slide presentation of marina alternatives. Topics
discussed included:

Marina Alternative Locations:
Main Channel: Existing Bathymetry, advantages, disadvantages,

conceptual costs
Ice Harbor: Existing bathymetry, advantages, disadvantages, conceptual

costs

Deflection structures and promenades

Design Features: Gangways, docks, fuel docks
City Council members discussed communication with Ice Harbor property owners
and stakeholders, project funding, boat and dock sizes/requirements, access for
canoes, marina staffing, and management.
Information on site selection will be provided at the July 20, 2009 City Council
meeting.
There being no further business, the City Council adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
