7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Langworthy Historic District StyleNear: c.1895-96, Queen Anne,
embodied in asymmetrical massing, gabled wings and bays, mixed cladding materials. The Colonial
Revival porch is likely of later date.
Physical Description: Two-story rectangular core (31x24, rear wing 12x16) with tile (pressed metal, with
finials) hip roof, shallow front gabled pavilion wing (1x14) and east gabled bay wing (5x16). Shingled
gable fronts, narrow clapboard cladding, corner boards. Modillions project beneath the broad eaves.
The large wrap-around porch with flat roof and Colonial pillars obscures the lower half of the design (12'
wide, 36'frontage, 21' depth). It features paired original doors with sidelights and transom. Stone
foundation.
Alterations: Porch very likely c. 191 O. Permits note metal roof re-pair in 1996, garage re-roofings in
1963, 1979, new garage built 2000 ($7,488).
Landscaping/Setting: level site in front with south-facing house, tuck-under garage beneath deck,
reached from north.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Original Owner/Builder: Isaiah and Esther Clemenson were the first residents here 1896-99. He was a
partner in Garland & Clemenson. In 1896 he was a district agent for the Northwestern Mutual Life
Insurance Co.
Building History: Fanny Tredway 1918, Bert Gunderson 1921. The Clemonson family owned the
parcel when it was sewered. Mabel and Bert Gunderson owners 1919-1970.
