7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: pre-1872/1870
(Assessor), two-story brick Italianate style gable front side hall residence plan (bracketed eaves, 2/2
lights, double entry with transom). Very well preserved.
Physical Description: complex plan with rectangular two-story core (front wing 29’6”x25, rear wing
17x35, side wing 16x20) with a subordinate side gable wing that projects slightly to the east and
broadly west. A two-story small wing with Mansard Roof is on the southwest corner. A single-story
louvered glass porch, inserted in the northwest front corner (post 1950, 18x16) completes the plan,
apart from a Classical style small porch (6x9) which replaced a wrap-around porch (east and north
sides) post-1950. Raised stone foundation, rounded brick window arches, undetermined sills, original
2/2 lights, single broadly spaced brackets have pendant fronts.
Alterations: porches as noted. Permits note re-roofings in 1963, 1997, alterations to single family brick
dwelling 1942 ($200), flat roof repair 1987, frame 20x20 garage on existing foundation 1994.
Landscaping/Setting: large raised parcel, house is in northeast corner, concrete retaining wall and
steps in front, brick garage of undetermined age on stone foundation on west end of parcel (alley
