7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: c.1860, modified
Italianate style duplex (cupola, massing). Neo Classical style front double decker porch with centered
pavilion and pedimented gable roof cap.
Physical Description: square two-story brick plan on high raised stone foundation (twin centered front
walk-out doors), symmetrical fenestration, jack brick voussoir window arches, porch c.1910. Rear deck
and stairs.
Alterations: walls apparently rebuilt, turned into two flats with probable change of doors, save for the
cupola, one would assume is recent flat c.1910. Permits note re-roofings in 1991, 1989 (front porch),
remodeled into apartments 1936 ($200), roof repair 1938.
Landscaping/Setting: parking area to rear, ground rises to the southwest, stone retaining wall on former
front
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Original Owner/Builder: F. D. Turner lived at 67 Highland Place in 1899. C. B. Palmer was here in
1901.
Building History: M. Leren owned the parcel when it was sewered c.1890.
Assessor splits property as of 1971.
