Narrative Description: This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: pre-1889, two-story side gable brick Italianate style duplex (bracketed eaves, elongated narrow windows). This is an exact match in terms of lintels, etc. with 442-44 West 5th, 1885-88. Physical Description: rectangular plan with elongated centered rear two-story brick wing, double rowlock brick rounded arch gable end single lights, full-sized. Raised stone foundation and water table, basement windows with stone lintels aligned with upper windows, paired and centered entries with transoms, paired brackets, chimneys placed forward on end walls, inscribed stone lintels with pediments, triangular ends and spring stones, stone sills, anchor bolts on side walls, east half has original front door. Eaves continue beyond end walls. Alterations: no porch 1891, small gable roof porch 1909, elaborate Victorian style porch post-dates 1986 on concrete stoop and steps with side entries, lintels covered, chimneys cut back and finished with concrete block caps. Metal awnings in upper windows west half. Permits note a re-roofing in 1931 (414), front porch repairs 1960 (416). Plan consists of broad front rectangle, 30x36 with long rear centered wing, 28x26. No porch present 1971. Stone foundation. Landscaping/Setting: ground rises to southwest, fronts north. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Building History: Assessor splits property as of 1971. P. McCullouth owned the parcel when it was sewered c.1889. First listing 414 is F. H. Weigel, real estate and loans, in 1899, same for 416, was Edward R. Chase, for 1896-99. 9.
