7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. Style/Year: pre-1909, two-story
frame rectangular-plan residence, likely Italianate style originally with narrow windows, side-hall plan, at
least one 2/2 light survives.
Physical Description: brick front square core (25x18), symmetrical fenestration with right hand entry,
two-story square side gable addition to southwest rear (14x11) and inset hip roof corner porch in front,
full-width hip roof front porch (6x18). Single story rear wing (12x15) and rear enclosed porch (7x15).
Alterations: asbestos siding, board and batten front gable covering, entry transom likely covered,
concrete stoop and steps, some window changes. Permits note re-roofings in 1941, 1987 (porch) as
582. Resided since 1986, porch has gained turned posts and balustrade. Side corner porch removed.
Landscaping/Setting: ground level rises to the west and south, fronts north.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Building History: Caleb Chapin owned the parcel when it was sewered c.1889. The tap dates to
August 16, 1926.
