This property is located in the West Eleventh Street Historic District. StyleNear:c.18741 this is surely
the most many-designs lived house in the city. It presumably started out as a side gable single

1889. In its second life it gained a centered gable roof dormerl side dormer and southeast corner baYI
along with a broader open front porch with brick piers and a projecting pedimented gable roof entry
porch. In its final version it was apparently an institution or very large apartment housel gaining a large
matching west wing and a smaller east wing. The institutional phase is hinted at by the provision of
large apparently open porches. These were paneled off with reduced window insets. Styles were likely
ltalianate or vernacular originallYI Neo Classical c.191 O.
Physical Description: the rear wing exhibits voussoir brick window arches that have been shortenedl

incorporation of an ornate chimney base into the corner bay and wall. It has its own brick foundation
and was an alteration. The larger porch had its own basement as is indicated by two bricked in
basement west side openings. Stone approach steps are very well executed with rounded newel posts
and cap stones. The front dormer is sheeted with stamped metal shingles. The L-plan core consists of
a 39x32'6" rectangle with a 27x29'6" rear wing). A two-story east wing off of the core measured 9x14.
A two-story west porch wing measured 30x26. A centered entryway measured 4x81 a bay to the east
