7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. Style/Year: 1868, two-story brick side
gable vernacular duplex.
Physical Description: chimneys in end walls, double rowlock segmental window arches, stone sills,
symmetrical fenestration with grouped centered twin entries with transoms.
Alterations: eaves cut back, cornice likely removed, metal canopy replaces original porch/canopy,
window replacement. No permit data.
Landscaping/Setting: concrete block retaining wall forms front terrace, raised parcel, ground rises to
west, fronts east. Sidewalk to north, south.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Special Significance;
Original Owner/Builder: builder William Rebman built two two-story brick houses, each 20x83 with rear

additions 14x16 on the west side of Bluff between 10 and 11 streets, costing $3,000 each (Herald,
December 13, 1868). This might be that house?

Contractor John McEvoy built a house on Bluff near 11 in 1883 (Herald, April 28, 1883).
Building History: George Gray Sr. owned Lot 3, D. N. Cooley, Lot 4, Sub of Lot 655 in October 1889
when the block was first sewered.
