This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. Style/Year: recent
Physical Description: single story commercial building.
Alterations: No permit data.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
Special Significance; Local 150 Meatcutters Union Hall
Original Owner/Builder:
Building History: Lawyer Bushrod S. Poor resided here in 1893, having built a house here in 1877 for
$11,500, which he improved in 1882. The house had five front bays and a centered entrance and
stepped end walls. A Baptist church followed on this site prior to the present building (Herald,
December 14, 1877; December 3, 1882; Historic Houses File F-1, Center For Dubuque History). B. W.
Poor owned the parcel when the block was sewered. The tap date is September 21, 1921.
1856-1899 B. W. Poor at this address.
1899-1917 Poor family or members of same.
