7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. Style/Year: post-1884, pre-1891,
Italianate style L-plan church (gable screens, bracketed canopies, mixed cladding materials, massing,
2/2 lights), Gothic Revival (pointed church windows).
Physical Description: raised stone foundation with water table, stone lintels over basement windows,
ornate corbelled brick chimney, main entry on east front of north wing, wood shingles above spring
stone level, quadruple window bands on wing fronts (pointed hoods, 2/2 lights).
Alterations: very well preserved. Permits note re-roofing in 1936, 1979, 1997, 1999 (Rectory office).
Landscaping/Setting: level corner parcel, fronts to the east.

Special Significance; Assembly of God Church
Original Owner/Builder: German Methodist Episcopal Church
Building History: this congregation was formed in 1841 with just eleven members. Three other sites
were occupied over time prior to the building of this church (Jackson Park Walking Tour).
The German M. E. Church owned the parcel when it was first sewered.
