7. Narrative Description:
This property is located in the Jackson Park Historic District. StyleNear: 1887, Gothic Revival style,
embodied in pointed second story windows, vertical siding, bargeboard ornamentation.
Physical Description: 1.5-story L-plan with brick lower story, frame attic level. Window arches are
rounded soldier brick voussoir arches and there are stone lintels. Two single doors with transoms are
paired in the northeast corner where the original small porch was first located. Paired pointed windows
are set into the second story east gabled wall dormer front. The gable front and the attic level is
vertically sided with shingles above the lintel level in the gable apex.
Alterations: east side porch, removal of original porch. No permit data.
Landscaping/Setting: level lot on alley, fronts north.

Special Significance; German Methodist Episcopal Church rectory.
Original Owner/Builder: built by the church at 254 17th Street in 1886 for $1,800 (Herald, January 1,
1887).
