Narrative Description: Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements: Italianate style two-story squarish plan with front offset gable roof wing, east broad gable roof wing, retains two corbelled chimneys, elongated three-sided east wing (pre-1909), extended two-story (basement) runs east with east end entry, three-sided bay on front wing, brackets, raised stone foundation and stone porch piers, walkout on end, large single-story addition Physical Description: 40x31 L-plan core Alterations: Resided, aluminum siding, porch extended and built in, entry moved to east end of porch. Building Permit Cards: 1947-alterations to SF frame dwelling to convert to 2 family dwelling-$98-owner: Joseph Burke- contractor: owner 1987-detached frame garage-owner: Mike Portzen: contractor: Mike Kielty-$6567 Outbuildings: Side gable frame garage, 1950, 22x30, alum. siding Landscaping Notes: Low terrace, stone steps, large yard, fronts south. 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: The front wing of this plan matches the eastern one third of the Julius K. Graves house which dates to the middle 1850s and was originally located well east of this site. The very unusual bay with basement base, appears to match the Graves House. The Graves house was an Italianate design with a central square cut tower. This configuration was present on this site as of 1909. Chas. H. McArthur listed at 87 Fenelon 1875-86, makes $500 in repairs former, $200 in 1876 (Herald, December 18, 1870; October 31, 1875; December 2, 1876). George M. Raymond owns Lot 31, C. H. McArthur Lot 32, west half Lot 33, Warren McArthur owns east half Lot 33, when sewered 1891. 1873 McArthur residents include clerk Chas. H., clerk John A. (Poole, Gilliam & Co.) City Directory Notes: (87 Fenelon Place) Mrs. Bertha Raymond boards at 97 Fenelon Place 1890 (non-extant immediately west), household includes George B. and George N. Raymond. Lucy Hill is listed as a domestic at 87 Fenelon in 1890, the 97 might be a typo as no owner entry is otherwise found for 87. There is a large open area to the east of the house. The 1909/36 Sanborn map shows the same. Two houses to the west are non-extant (97, 109 Fenelon). 9.
