7. Narrative Description:
Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements:
Vernacular (I-House?) two-story brick side gable side hall plan (left entry) with centered front gable
through cornice dormer, original windows, rear two-story wing forms ell. Unusual to see a four-bay
front executed as a side hall plan.
Physical Description:
Straight brick voussior window arches, original or early porch, stone foundation, single-story rear wing.
Removal of stepped end parapet walls post-1889.
Alterations:
Aluminum siding on dormer front
Outbuildings:
Gable front single-car garage, re-sided
Landscaping Notes:
Moderate terrace, concrete steps, open yard to the east, fronts south.
8. Narrative Statement of Significance:
No original owner has been identified using directories. A number of candidates are identified in the
1858 directory as living at Fenelon and Summit (or Somerset): Louis Boisof, land agent and banker; E.
W. Dietrich; J. W. Glynn (machinist); N. Kingsbury; and freight agent A. J. Pinto.
Historical Notes:
1889 panoramic shows with stepped parapet end walls and no porch.
Fales Woods owns when sewered 1891.
A. H. Kingman offered 119 Fenelon Place for lease in late 1880 (Herald, October 5, 1880). The offer
wasn’t snapped up given that the listing continued to run through that fall.

The 1909 Sanborn map shows the house with a two-story L-plan, full-width front porch, rear wing and
two inset east rear side additions. A carriage house is attached at the rear (119 Fenelon).
The 1909/36 Sanborn map shows the same. Two houses to the east are non-extant (97, 109 Fenelon).
