Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: Dr. Jas. F. McCarthy (1099 Iowa) built a frame dwelling at 13-15-19 Cardiff in 1887 (Herald, Nov. 24, 1887). The first account best fits but this building is not shown on the 1889 overview. It was likely numbered 13-15-17 given that 243 Cardiff was 13/19 Cardiff. Given that a triple-address listing appears only by 1899. R. Bennett Jr. owns when sewered 1914. City Directory Notes: James J. McCarthy, attorney, first here 1888 (13 Cardiff). Widow McCarthy and Timothy H. McCarthy listed 1890. Dennis H. McCarthy, Sec. Key City Ins. Co and Nora (widow of James) listed 1896. The triple addresses first appear 1899, (13) McCarthy, (15) F. Melloy, and (17) Mrs. M. Mullen. Albert Elvidge, 1910 Jos. Meyer, 1921 Historical Image Notes: Does not appear on 1889 overview? Not mapped 1909, 1909/36.
