Narrative Description: Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements: Classical Revival style, two-story hip roof core with a broad five-sided bay/turret in the northwest front corner (with turret roof and finial). The offset gable roof front wing has a cantilevered gable front that projects above a square cut bay (with bellcast lower corners) and a remarkable recessed open porch with rusticated stone piers. The bay is bracketed. Physical Description: Irregular plan, 22x32 core, porch inset in left front corner, two right-hand side bays Alterations: Resided, narrow aluminum siding, two-story west rear garage wing with basement built 1997. Building Permit Cards: 1949-porch 1952-porch remodeled 1997-erect 13 x 24 concrete garage above bsmt-$6396-owner: Ann Cunningham-contractor: Kelly Const. 1998-erect 13 x 24 addition above garage, bedroom, bath-$15000-owner and contractor same as above Outbuildings: Garage set into bank from side street, to east of house Landscaping Notes: Ground drops to south, fronts north 8. Narrative Statement of Significance: Historical Notes: The lack of an 1899 directory entry confirms the building date. Farwell was a superintendent for the Adams Company. Three sons, Fay. G., Jay E. and Ray S. Farwell, all lived here and worked at the same firm as of 1902. Compares favorably with design of 515 Fenelon, across the street. City Directory Notes: (14 Fenelon Place) Fay O. and Estella Farwell, 1902-1918 George McCarthy, 1921 Historical Image Notes: The 1909 Sanborn map shows the house with a rounded east side front bay, two-story rear east corner inset porch and an attached garage on the west side (14 Fenelon?). The 1909/36 Sanborn map shows the same.
