7. Narrative Description:
Architectural Style And Key Stylistic Elements:
Italianate style gable front brick two-story side hall (left hand entry, originally double doors with
transom), elongated windows on lower front, paired brackets, soffit, curved stone lintels.
Physical Description:
Stone foundation, 22x32 rectangular core plan, single-story rear wing, flat roof brick side addition on
south side (14x20). North wall has just a single window.
Alterations:
Flat metal entry canopy with metal supports, entry reduced to single door with sidelights.
Outbuildings:
Frame gable front garage
Landscaping Notes:
House fronts west, garage, drive to south, level lot.

City Directory Notes:
John Palmer, carpenter, CM&St.P. RR, listed at 1852 Main, 1890-1918, Mrs. Mary Palmer listed at
1924 in 1921. No earlier listings found for this address.
Historical Image Notes:
House is visible on 1889 Bird’s Eye view although it is broadly spaced to the north of 1906.
1909 Sanborn Map shows with full-width front porch. 1936 map shows garage to south.
