Proclamation - Arbor DayWHEREAS,
on April 28, 2001, the citizens of Dubuque are invited to the Dubuque
Arboretum and Botanical Gardens to celebrate Arbor Day from 10 A.M.
to 12 Noon; and
WHEREAS,
during this Arbor Day celebration there will be a Children's Arbor Day
Greeting Card display and a presentation on various tree problems as
well as a tree planting ceremony and drawings of donated items; and
WHEREAS, we resolve to plant more trees within our community to enhance its
beauty, charm and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, we resolve to properly select, place and plant our trees, thereby
insuring their place in the landscape for generations to come; and
WHEREAS,
we resolve to care for the trees that we have planted, including
providing them with water during summers' drought and a blanket of
organic mulch to protect and nourish their roots.
NOW THEREFORE, I, TERRANCE M. DUGGAN MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2000 AS:
"ARBOR DA Y"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND URGE OUR CITIZENS TO RECOGNIZE THE
BEAUTY AND VALUE OF TREES.
