Van Milligen, City Manager FROM: Gus Psihoyos, City Engineer �,��� �-> DATE: May 14, 2018 RE: Clarke and Locust Intersection Improvement Project The Clarke and Locust Intersection Improvement Project will involve the construction of a new concrete island at the intersection of Clarke Drive and W Locust Street. This improvement is a joint City/Dubuque Community Schools project related to the Dubuque Senior High School building project which will enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety in the intersection. The project will include installation of ADA pedestrian ramps, street lighting and fiber optic infrastructure for security cameras. Cameras will be installed at the intersection by City staff after the project is completed. The following is a summary of bids received for the Clarke and Locust Intersection Improvement Project: Contractor Base Bid McDermott Excavating $81,418.44 Midwest Concrete, Inc. $83,584.50 Through the competitive quotation process for public improvements, this project was awarded on May 15, 2018 to McDermott Excavating, of Dubuque, lowa, in the base bid amount of$81,418.44.
