Ware, Leisure Services Manager SUBJECT: Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair Project Acceptance CIP 350-1516 DATE: June 11, 2018 INTRODUCTION The enclosed resolution provides for the acceptance of the public improvement for the Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair Project. BACKGROUND The Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair Project provided for pavement removal and replacement with new storm sewer where subgrade settlement had caused water to pond in the parking lot and Veterans Drive. Additional joint repair was performed on the per unit price as budget allowed on south side of the parking lot to resolve trip hazards and extend pavement life. DISCUSSION The Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair Project was completed by Drew Cook & Sons Excavating of Dubuque, IA in the final contract amount of $44,823.20 which is a 9% increase from the original contract amount of $40,533.00. The increase was due to additional joint repair work completed while keeping the project in budget. RECOMMENDATION IIW has inspected and recommends the City approve and accept the Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair project. Based on this I recommend that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize the payment of the contract amount of $44,823.20 to Drew Cook & Sons Excavating for the Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair Project. RESOLUTION NO. 182-18 ACCEPTING THE GRAND RIVER CENTER NORTH PARKING LOT REPAIR PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE CONTRACT AMOUNT TO THE CONTRACTOR Whereas, the Public Improvement Contract for the Grand River Center North Parking Lot Repair Project (the Project) has been completed and IIW, P.C. has examined the work and filed a certificate stating that the Project has been completed according to the terms of the Public Improvement Contract and that the IIW, P.C. recommends that the Project be accepted; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA: Section 1. The recommendation of IIW, P.C. is approved, and the Project is hereby accepted. Section 2.
