Council Goal Setting
The Commission discussed their activities over the course of the fiscal year to determine their
successes as requested for upcoming City Council goal-setting sessions. They also discussed
possible future initiatives considering the gradual loss of the City's regulatory authority over the cable
company due to state and federal laws, and especially considering the 2007 state franchising law
enacted by the lowa legislature. Vincent moved to make the PEG Fund/grant process as the
Commission's success and expanding the Commission's scope of duties to include other
communications paths and becoming a better resource to maximize the benefits of the PEG Fund as
two initiatives for the coming year. The motion was seconded by McMullen and approved 5— 0.
Cable TV Report
Nowack provided an update on the status of the current grant projects, noting that last week he and
Moeller installed the new digital recording decks and that much of the equipment for the public access
control room at Mediacom was in. The new playback servers for Mediacom and Loras College have
been ordered, and he is waiting for signed grant agreements from the school district before ordering
their servers and equipment. He also discussed recently completed productions that are now airing
on CityChannel Dubuque.
AdjournmenUNext Meeting
Because July 4 is the first Wednesday of next month, there was a consensus that the Commission
should meet on the second Wednesday, July 11, if there is pressing business to discuss. Upon a
motion by RTigges and seconded by McMullen, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
