MINUTES OF CABLE TV COMMISSION MEETING
December 5, 2018
CITY HALL ANNEX— 1st FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM #1
MEMBERS PRESENT: Pauline Maloney (Chair), Jennifer Tigges (Vice-Chair), Ron Tigges, Alan
Vincent, Kathy McMullen
MEMBERS ABSENT: Sr. Carol Hoverman. One seat is vacant.
OTHERS PRESENT: Craig Nowack, City of Dubuque
Maloney called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.
Acceptance of the Agenda
Upon a motion by Vincent, seconded by RTigges, the agenda was accepted by a motion of 5-0.
Approval of the Minutes of September 5, 2018
Upon a motion by McMullen, seconded by JTigges, minutes of the September 5, 2018, meeting were
approved 5 —0.
Oaths of Office
Maloney administered oaths of office to Vincent and McMullen.
Election of Officers
Maloney noted that election of officers was on the December agenda but the newly elected officers
would assume their roles in the first meeting of calendar year 2019. Upon a motion by Vincent,
seconded by McMullen, JTigges was elected Chair by a vote of 5 —0. Upon a motion by McMullen,
seconded by JTigges, RTigges was elected Vice-Chair by a vote of 5— 0.
PEG Fund Letter
Nowack presented a draft of the letter to be sent to PEG Fund grant recipients for a proof of
performance for calendar 2018. Upon a motion by RTigges, seconded by Vincent, the letter was
approved 5 —0. Nowack said he would have the letters ready for the new Chair's signature at the
January meeting.
Public Input
There was no public input.
Mediacom Cable Report
There was no one from Mediacom in attendance to present a report.
Cable N Report
Nowack provided an update on the Annex routing upgrade project, unfortunately noting that the new
router, ordered approximately six months ago, has not yet arrived. He was pleased to announce that
the issue controlling the lights in the Council Chambers was resolved this morning. He noted a
pending Mediacom rate increase, a new format for the Mayor's State of the City announcements, and
a second From the Archives New Year's Day Marathon. He then showed a preview of this year's
holiday program, The Magic of Garden & Grove.
Vincent inquired about delaying the January meeting one week because it falls on January 2 and he
might not be able to attend. Maloney indicated she was flying back to Dubuque that day and her
attendance was doubfful. Nowack said he would look into availability of a meeting room for January
9.

RTigges mentioned the declining interest in PEG cable programming and said something the
Commission should consider in the years ahead is the possibility of using the PEG Fund for
something other than equipment.

Upon a motion by JTigges, seconded by Vincent, the meeting adjourned at 4:41 p.m.
