11 26 18 City Council Proceedings Official_SpecialCITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL SESSION OFFICIAL The Dubuque City Council met in special session at 6:00 p.m. on November 26, 2018 in the Historic Federal Building, 350 W. 6th Street. Present: Mayor Buol; Council Members Del Toro, Jones, Larson, Resnick, Rios, Shaw; City Manager Van Milligen, City Attorney Brumwell Mayor Buol read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council called for the purpose of conducting the Sustainable Dubuque Quarterly Work Session. WORK SESSION Sustainable Dubuque Quarterly Report Assistant City Manager Cori Burbach introduced Gina Bell, incoming Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Dubuque. Presenters included: Paul Duster, Community Initiatives Coordinator for the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque; Robert Kimble, Director of the Dream Center; Leslie Shalabi, and Natalie Roling of Convivium Urban Farmstead; and Craig and Rachel Schmidt Boeke of Dubuque Urban Farm. Topic s included: • Dream Center: Report and Needs Assessment Study, measurable outcomes, strategy, and school connectors, program structure, Reading/Math MAP proficiency and progress, student attendance/suspensions, goals and needs, parent support focus, expansion of staff and volunteers, facility impro vements, meals and transportation, revenues/expense projection, and Dream Team funding campaign. • Partners for Places: o Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque: Community Building, Washington Neighborhood status of activities and programs, and parent engagement program. o Convivium Urban Farmstead - Food Culture Chefs: Food Scholars Program. o Dubuque Urban Farmstead – Community-Supported Agriculture: member newsletters; status of activities, programs and farm projects. • Ms Burbach provided an update on the Resilient Community Advisory Commission’s sustainable community grant program. City Council had discussion with the presenters following their respective presentation. There being no further business, upon motion the City Council adjourned at 6:58 p.m. /s/Kevin S.
