WHEREAS, the week of April 22-26, 2019 has been designated as National Community
Development Week by the National Community Development Association to
celebrate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program; and
WHEREAS, the CDBG Program provides annual funding and flexibility to local communities
to provide decent, safe and affordable housing, a suitable living environment, and
economic opportunities to low- and moderate-income residents; and
WHEREAS, over the past five years, our community has received a total of $4,913,776 in
CDBG funds; and
WHEREAS, the following activities have been funded: First Time Homebuyer Program;
Historic Preservation Rehabilitation Grant; Homeowner Rehabilitation Program;
Housing Code Enforcement; Housing Rehabilitation Services and Staff; Rental
Unit Rehabilitation; Economic Development Financial Assistance Program;
Microenterprise Assistance Program; Accessible Curb Ramps; Neighborhood
Infrastructure Improvements; Neighborhood Recreation Programs; Neighborhood
Support Grants; Homeless Shelter Operating Costs for Opening Doors; Senior
Center operating costs for Hills & Dales; Washington Tool Library; Zoning and
Enforcement; and Housing & Community Development and Neighborhood
Development Services & Staff.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY
PROCLAIM THE WEEK OF APRIL 22-26, 2019 AS
"COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA.
