Five Flags Civic Center Advisory Commission Meeting

ABSENT:
STAFF PRESENT: HR Cook, Shaun Rice, Ali Levasseur, Don Howes, Kelly Spreitzer
OTHERS PRESENT:
MINUTES In Commissioner Blau's absence, Commissioner Huff ran the meeting
APPROVED;
VOTE: Commissioner Bakke motioned and Commissioner Daugherty seconded, to approve
the minutes of the February 4, 2019 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
PUBLIC No public comment given at meeting.
COMMENT:
DEPARTMENT Director of Finance [Don Howes], Marketing Coordinator [Kelly Spreitzer], and
REPORTS: Director of Events and Operations [Shaun Rice] gave reports based on information in
Commission packet.
General Manager [HR Cook] thanked the commission for their report to council at the
Budget hearings. The City of Dubuque's FY 2020 budget has been finalized with the
walk-through metal detectors included. Also included in the budget is money for
consultants and architect to further vet Scenario three and four of the
Expansion/improvement.
General Manager [HR Cook] discussed the SMG management contract. The current
contract expires June 2019. Marie Ware, our city contract administrator, is
discussing management options with SMG and City leadership.
NEW BUSINESS: No new business at this time.

OTHER BUSINESS: The next scheduled commission meeting of May 27, 2019 falls on Memorial Day and
is a City holiday. Commission discussed choosing a new date, Commissioner Parks
motioned the meeting be moved to Tuesday May 28, 2019 and Commissioner Bakke
seconded; all approved.
ADJURN; Motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Bakke, seconded by Commissioner
VOTE: Parks. The motion passed unanimously.
NEXT MEETING: Next bi-monthly meeting held Tuesday May 28 2019. Five Flags staff will send an
email 3-5 day before to remind commissioners of the meeting
