Special Session, August 28th, 1933
lors stop at 1:00 A. M. A reply from
Iowa City also indicates that the
City regulates the closing hour at
beer parlors, but no time limit was
specified. The questionnaire return-
ed from Muscatine indicates that a
local ordinance, not connected with
the beer ordinance, regulates the
closing of dance halls at mid -night
Saturday night.
Mayor Tank's letter from Daven-
port indicates that he believes that
for the next year beer permits may
be sold conditioned on the answer-
ing of a questionnaire that the own-
ers of said beer parlors shall specify
the number of hours which they in-
tend to operate and Mayor Tank fur-
ther advocates establishing closing
hours for those who do not remain
open the full 24 -hour period. He al-
so indicates that dance hall regula-
tions must be considered in the near
future. The Mayor of Marshalltown
submits an ordinance prohibiting
dancing at any place where refresh-
ments or beverages are sold.
