PIROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, as the recipient of a national grant, St. John's Episcopal Church in Dubuque is
launching St. John's Community Kindness Month Campaign to spread intentional acts
of kindness throughout the community during the month of September; and
WHEREAS, the Kindness Teams understand kindness is more than being nice and its meaning
varies across cultures, ages, and genders. Kindness is behavior marked by acts of
generosity, empathy, consideration, or concern for others without expecting praise or
reward; and
WHEREAS, the goal is to spread kindness throughout the community in ways that will reach all
citizens regardless of where they are on life's journey; and
WHEREAS, Kindness Teams will share and invite stories of kindness through prayer, original music,
print and online media promotion, distribution of coupons, t-shirts, billboards, and K-5
children creating art that reflects kindness; and
WHEREAS, Dubuquers will be encouraged to catch acts of kindness in the community and post
them with the hashtag #spread Kind nessdbq; and
WHEREAS, the vision is acts of kindness will become part of Dubuque's culture and identity.
NOW THEREFORE, I, ROY D. BUOL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND THE CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER 2021 AS
"ST. JOHN'S COMMUNITY KINDNESS MONTH"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA AND CALL UPON CITIZENS OF DUBUQUE TO OBSERVE
THIS MONTH AND PARTICIPATE IN PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, AND EXPERIENCES IN
RECOGNITIION OF OUR CITY'S KINDNESS TO EACH OTHER.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of
Dubuque to be affixed this 7th day of September,
