The Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act (PL 83- 566) authorizes the USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to cooperate with State and local agencies in planning and carrying out works of improvement for soil conservation and for other purposes. The watershed program includes the development of physically, environmentally, socially, and economically sound project plans of improvements scheduled for implementation. The Northern Dubuque County project area is the approximately the northern half of the county, encompassing the Little Maquoketa River Watershed and portions of the Headwaters of the North Fork Maquoketa River Watershed (see attached map). Potential project purposes include flood prevention, with potential secondary benefits to water quality. JEO Consulting Group (JEO) has been retained by Dubuque County to assist in developing the Plan -EA. Dubuque County is hosting an agency Scoping meeting for all interested agencies to support development of the Plan -EA. To allow for more convenient participation, the agency Scoping meeting will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams.
