PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING
Tuesday, February 8, 2022

PRESENT: Hobie Wood, Robin Kennicker, Rob McCoy (virtually), Jennifer
Tigges (virtually), and Ray Werner (virtually).
ABSENT: Jessica Ochoa and Justin Hochberger
STAFF PRESENT: Steve Fehsal, Dan Kroger and Kristen Dietz
CALL TO ORDER: Wood called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
MINUTES APPROVED; VOTE:
It was moved by Kennicker, seconded by Wood, to approve the minutes of
the January 11, 2022 meeting. Unanimous.
PUBLIC INPUT:
None.
REQUEST FROM ORDER OF THE ARROW TO WAIVE EAGLE POINT PARK
ENTRANCE FEE ON MOTHER'S DAY FOR THOSE ATTENDING PANCAKE
BREAKFAST:
Jacob, Boy Scouts chairperson for the 2022 Pancake Breakfast requests the
waiving of the fee for Eagle Point Park entrance for those attending the
pancake breakfast on May 8, 2022. In return the boy scouts will do their
annual stick pick up day and this year it is set for April 9, 2022. It was moved
by Kennicker, seconded by Werner, to recommend waiving the entrance fee
for those attending the pancake breakfast on May 8, 2022. Unanimous.
RECOMMENDATION OF PARK AND RECREATION FISCAL YEAR 2023
OPERATING AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS BUDGETS:
It was moved by Kennicker, seconded by McCoy, to approve the
recommended fiscal year 2023 operating and capital improvement projects
budgets for Park and Recreation divisions. Unanimous.
RECOMMENDATION OF SUPPORT FOR FOUR MOUNDS ACQUISITION
PHASE II — LWCF GRANT:
It was moved by Kennicker, seconded by McCoy, to recommend support for
Four Mounds Acquisition Phase II — LWCF Grant. Unanimous.
DISCUSSION OF RECREATION DIVISION VISIONING:
Recreation Division Manager Kroger shared that staff at supervisory level
have teamed up to bring change across the division for the year 2023.
Supervisory staff including Recreation Program Supervisors Janna Beau,
Anthony Elskamp, Brian Feldott, MFC Assistant Director Sarah Petersen,
AmeriCorps Director Heather Satterly, and Clerical Supervisor (Lead
Administrative Assistant) Kristen Dietz. This team will collaborate to create a
new vision and direction for the division and the Park and Recreation
Commission will be provided information along the way. Assistance and
feedback will be appreciated.
