Public Health Specialist Mary Rose Corrigan is providing Notice of Award information on
a previously approved request to apply for two grants from the National Environmental
Health Administration — Food Drug Administration Development Base Retail Flex. On
February 15, 2022, Health Services was notified of the two awards -one in the amount of
$2,364 and the other in the amount of $5,000. No match is required for these grants.

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information on the award of National
Environmental Health Administration — Food Drug Administration Development Base
Retail Flex.
DISCUSSION
New FDA-NEHA Retail Flexible Funding Model Grant Program to provide funding to
state, local, and territorial retail food regulatory agencies to advance conformance with
the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (VNRFPS) in effort
to reduce the occurrence of foodborne illness risk factors and implement and attain
conformance with Retail Program Standards
On November 1, 2021, Council approved our request to apply for National
Environmental Health Administration — Food Drug Administration Development Base
Retail Flex. On February 15, 2022, Health Services was notified of the award. The
details of the award are below.

National Environmental Health Administration — Food Drug Administration Development
Base Retail Flexible Model Grant to provide for staff training on how to conduct and
audit the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (VNRFPS) as
required by Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals contract. Funds would allow
Sydney Moquin to attending training. Environmental Sanitarian Tim Link has already
competed this training.
