Public Information Officer Randy Gehl is sharing information about the City's Linkedln
presence as a finalist for a Golden Post Award. The City of Dubuque's Linkedln
presence, managed by Communications Specialist Trevor Fannon, was recently named
one of three 2022 finalists for "Best Linkedln Presence" Golden Post Award from
Government Social Media. Dubuque finished as a runner up to the City of Tampa,
Florida.

INTRODUCTION
The City of Dubuque's Linkedln presence, managed by Communications Specialist
Trevor Fannon, was recently named one of three 2022 finalists for a "Best Linkedln
Presence" Golden Post Award from Government Social Media.
BACKGROUND
Government Social Media (GSM) supports public sector social media professionals by
hosting national events, facilitating online training and organizing a community of
government social media managers across the country. GSM's annual Gold Post
Awards program recognizes outstanding use of social media by government agencies in
the U.S. The award program features 10 categories focusing on social media strategy,
techniques and results, and is open for eligible government agencies to enter in the
United States. Nearly 400 entries were received for the 2022 awards program.
The "Best Linkedln Presence" category recognizes a government agency that uses
Linkedln to share compelling narratives about work culture, reach new audiences, and
earn powerful results in social recruitment.
DISCUSSION
The City uses Linkedln to celebrate employee accomplishments, tell stories of the
impact our employees have on resident's lives, promote our culture and benefits, and
more to showcase the important work of the City of Dubuque.
• The City of Dubuque's Linkedln presence currently has over 2,400 followers,
including 437 new followers in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 thus far.
• Impressions, also known as the number of people reached by posts from the City
of Dubuque, are up from 53,775 in FY2021 to 135,286 in FY2022 thus far— an
increase of over 150%.
• Engaging content has caused 1,497 Linkedln users, which includes prospective
employees and job seekers, to visit the City's page in the last year.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
