Key Takeaways –General
o Dubuque community -very supportive of new community facilities,
specifically with respect to the initial capital needed; ongoing
operations and maintenance have been more challenging.
o Community Recreation Facilities
No enclosed sports facility space; can be difficult for teams to find
practice and play area.
Sports are run by non-profit organizations
Community surrounding Bee Branch is economically challenged and
underserved from recreation facilities standpoint; serving this area is
a City priority.
University has potential to be partner (if not from a capital
improvement standpoint, then as a user and supporter of O&M)
Key Takeaways –Port of Dubuque Site
o City is interested in entertainment use –something that serves both the local
community and supports tourism; can be coupled with other secondary uses.
o Concepts
Youth-oriented sports complex
Would like concept to be attainable and serve local community
