This is a claim filed by David R. Janzig, Sr., in which he claims that a telephone pole's wires
caused a tree to fall, which in mm fell onto his vehicle.
This claim was referred to John Klostermann~ Street/Sewer Maintenance Supervisor, for a report
and recommendation. According to the report, the Operations and Maintenance Department has no
record of the incident. After speaking with Mr. Klostermann to get additional information regarding
the incident, he stated that the City does not own any wooden poles and that the claimant should
contact the utility company responsible for the telephone pole in questio~ Therefore, Mr.
Klostermann recommends that the claim be denied. The Legal Department concurs with his
recommendation.

RE: Your Claim Against the City of Dubuque
Dear Mr. Jan×ig:
This letter is in regards to your claim against the City where you state that a telephone
pole's wires caused a tree to fall on and damage your vehicle. After looking into the
matter, we found that the City does not have any ownership interest in or connection to
the telephone pole.
Therefore, if you wish to recover for your loss, you should~contact the utility company
that is responsible for the telephone pole in question.
