BACKGROUND: As part of the City Emergency Preparedness efforts, NIMS training is essential for policy makers and elected officials in order to participate in emergency preparedness exercises and drills, along with management of actual events. DISCUSSION: A work session will provide an opportunity for City staff to conduct an overview of NIMS courses and concepts relevant to policy makers and discuss roles and responsibilities of elected officials in emergency planning and response. RECOMMENDATION: Schedule a City Council work session for September 12, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. cc: Amy Scheller, Fire Chief Jeremy Jensen, Police Chief Tom Berger, Emergency Management Agency Director Service People Integrity Responsibility Innovation Teamwork
