AdoreAble Pro. Toughman ConAdoreAble Promotions May 1, 2001 Michael Van Milligen City Hall 50 West 13th Street Dubuque, IA 52001 Dear Mr. Milligen, What do you get when you combine the safety of amateur boxing with the flash of professional wrestling? The hottest TV cable show every Friday night! Why would we write the Dubuque City Council members about this? Because this show cannot come to the Five Flags Civic Center to do a television episode even though this same event has been done on national TV from Sioux City, Burlington, and are planned next season for Des Moines. According to Jamie Blum, the Acting Manager for the Five Flags, the City of Dubuque has a peculiar ordinance preventing the Original Toughman Contest from being held in Dubuque. No doubt, the name "Toughman" evokes some sort of mental picture, but are you aware of these facts? · The Original Toughman Contest is really amateur boxing (just like they do it in the Olympics) BUT with shorter rounds and more safetw gear! -The Original Toughman Contest has the BEST safety record in the world among ALL forms of boxing. -The Original Toughman Contest is sanctioned and supervised by the Iowa Boxing Commission & they will give you a great reference! The Toughman Contest is now a weekly show on the FX Network (10 EST) and we would love to do a show from the Five Flags Civic Center. Please consider this a formal request to consider this issue. Does this need to be a City Agenda item? If so, we would be happy to make a presentation to the City Council. We would like to answer any concerns your Council might have as those concerns may not be reflective of the event the Tougbman Contest has matured into over the past ten years. I would like to call you early next week to have your input on this issue or in the meantime you can reach me at the number below. Sine, ely, Wendy Dore President 900 Harry Truman Parkway * P.O.
