WHEREAS, since 1946, CROP / CHURCH WORLD SERVICE has had walks to collect funds to
alleviate hunger overseas and in the United States; and
WHEREAS, CROP WALK pledges now meet human need in over 70 countries with disaster and
emergency response, refugee and immigrant services, and economic and social
upheaval response; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Rescue Mission, Dubuque Food Pantry and PIN (People In Need) each will
equally share the 25% retained locally of the total amount collected; and
WHEREAS, Dubuque Annual CROP WALK will take place Saturday, October 1, 2022, starting at St.
Elias the Prophet Church located at 419 North Grandview Avenue, proceeding to the
Grandview Green Space on the corner of South Grandview Avenue and Rockdale Road,
then returning to the point of origin, to help our community become aware of, and
concerned about, how hunger affects us all; and
WHEREAS, the CROP WALK will raise funds to help stop hunger both locally and globally.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON
BEHALF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM
SATURDAY, OCTOBERR 1, 2022 AS:
"CROP WALK DAY IN DUBUQUE"
AND URGE THE RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE TO PARTICIPATE WITH THE DUBUQUE AREA
CONGREGATIONS UNITED TO SUPPORT THIS WALK.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the Great Seal of the City of Dubuque, IA
to be affixed this 19th day of September 2022.
