Whereas the Dubuque Daily Tribune, a Journal published in this City, has announced in its June 2, 1856 issue
that 150 or 200 volunteers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin will probably cross the river at this point today or tomorrow, en route for Kansas
to protect the free state men from the murderous attacks of the Missouri ruffians
"Shall we give them a hearty reception"
fellow citizens, give every facility to their settlement upon the broad prairies of the west
condemn all unlawful acts, whether committed by the people of Missouri, Massachusetts, or any other state in the territory of Kansas
not emigrating to Kansas for the purpose of a persuant settlement in that territory
foregoing their own peculiar views in violation of existing laws in that territory
Resolved we most heartily condemn (if true) this armed men in their nefarious enterprise
Resolved deepest mortification and abhorrence all acts by any portion of our fellow citizens calculated to produce discord among the different states, and that if these men are visiting Kansas, they should be discountenanced by every good citizen
