Resolutions Mayor to procure from the Clerk of the Supreme Court a certificate of the proceedings in relation to the act of the legislature of 1857 amending the Act of Incorporation of the City Mayor Ald King offered the following Resolution Rights of the City to the Central Island reserve all rights of whatever nature which the city may possess Whereas the so called compromised by the votes of a minority of the Council, of whom one if not more, had a direct pecunicary interest in the arrangement by the original purchasers April 25, 1859 Hodgdon, Treanor, Quigley, Lane, Kauffman, Hinds, Melhop, Mitton, Matthews, Ham, King Ald King offered the following Resolution Rights of the City to the Central Island reserve all rights of whatever nature which the city may possess Whereas the so called compromised by the votes of a minority of the Council, of whom one if not more, had a direct pecunicary interest in the arrangement by the original purchasers of the Central Islands with their successors released from the payment of the sum of $120,000 being a part of the purchase money which they had contracted to pay for said property in direct opposition to the wishes of a large majority of the Citizens and was finally consumated by a series of irregular and unjust proceedings effect to invalidate any act so obtained Official communication addressed to the City Council on April 11, 1859 Mayor Hetherington declared that the compromise is not fit to be made and ought not to be submitted to or acquiesed in by the tax payers of Dubuque late contract pretended to be entered into between the Company and the City is of no binding force Resolved that a committee of members of the Council with the City Attorney investigate all matters connected with the sale of the Central Island to J P Farley and others conveyance of the property to the Central Improvement Company proceedings under which have been released from payment Resolved the rights of the City are fully defined and established, inexpedient to establish any right of possession over any portion of said property or to perform any act acknowledging the legality of the release April 25, 1859 Hodgdon, Treanor,
