Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting November, 16 2022
Present: Pam Mullin, President; Greg Gorton, Vice President; Andy Bland, Secretary
and Trustees, Robert Armstrong, Alanda Gregory, Victor Lieberman, and Christy Monk
• The Board approved library expenditures.
• 100 Curbside visits in October.
• Carnegie -Stout has added 20 Launchpad Academy tablets for Pre-K users. The
tablets do not need to be connected to the internet to be used and are available for
check out. Each tablet comes with different games, stories, etc. aimed to engage
students in literacy, social/emotional skills, and STEAM activities. The were
provided by a grant from the McDonough Foundation.
• Library staff are partnering with Monsoon Asian and Pacific Islanders in
Solidarity to organize a storytime at the Library that will be in Marshallese.
• The Dubuque Community School Board has agreed to another year of data
sharing services to provide middle and high school students a library card using
their school ID.
• The Library has food, toiletries and other items available now through the end of
December as a pop-up food bank available to anyone.
• Over 200 students will be participating in the Bookworm Builders program,
servicing Head Start preschools and Four Oak's Parents at Teachers program.
• Quilts of Valor program had over 75 attendees with a beautiful display of quilts
celebrated just before Veteran's Day.
