Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting December, 15 2022
Present: Pam Mullin, President; Greg Gorton, Vice President; and Trustees, Robert
Armstrong (virtual), Alanda Gregory, Victor Lieberman, and Christy Monk
• The Board approved library expenditures.
• 84 Curbside visits in November.
• The Library has food, toiletries and other items available now through the end of
December as a pop-up food bank available to anyone.
• November 2022 saw increases in statistical usage nearly across the board over
November 2021
• Nearly 70 submissions for the National Family Literacy Month short story writing
contest. Gift Cards to River Lights Bookstore were given out for winners in four
age categories.
• A Spark Online Book Fair netted over $300 in proceeds to the library.
• A nice attendance for the annual tree lighting ceremony. Over 125 people
attended to listen to the Dubuque Senior High School Madrigal Singers and one
lucky child was selected to light the tree.
• Several Dubuque County libraries will be partnering for a County Reads program
in April, 2023 featuring the title `Sitting Pretty' by Rebekah Taussig. Other
participating libraries include: Loras College, University of Dubuque, James
Kennedy Public Library in Dyersville, and the Dubuque County Library District.
• November saw a great number of outreach programs in the community for youth
and teens including a storytime at Hotel Julien, programs at the Boys & Girls
Club, Hills & Dales, several Dubuque Community School District schools, and
the Multicultural Family Center
