SUBJECT: New Hazardous Materials Command Vehicle
DATE: January 23, 2023
INTRODUCTION:
The Dubuque Fire Department recently took delivery of a new Hazardous Materials
Command vehicle. This new resource replaces the 1998 Hazardous Materials
Command Vehicle and provides the users with upgrades in technology and working
space. The vehicle responds to large scale hazardous materials incidents and provides
a mobile incident command resource for any large-scale incident across the city and
county.
DISCUSSION:
The Dubuque Fire Department is appreciative of the work from our finance department,
vehicle services, and to the department members who were an important part of the
specification and coordination of building and placing this new resource in service.
Department committee members included Nick Esch, Greg Harris, Jacob Reiff, and
Jason Lueken.
RECOMMENDATION:
The department will have a static display of the new Hazardous Materials Command
Vehicle at the next council meeting on February 20, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
outside Historic Federal Building. This will allow members of the community, city, and
council to tour the new vehicle and ask questions.
