Library Board of Trustees Update
From the Meeting January, 26 2023
Present: Pam Mullin, President; Andy Bland, Secretary; and Trustees, Robert
Armstrong, Alanda Gregory, Victor Lieberman,
• The Board approved library expenditures
• The contract for Part-time Marketing Coordinator, Amanda Dolter, was renewed
for 16 months.
• The Board of Trustees approved of a new high-level strategic plan.
• 79 Curbside visits in December.
• The library saw increases in circulation, visitors, and computer and Wi-Fi usage
in December compared to December 2021.
• The library is excited to be partnering with Faces and Voices Cultural Celebration
and the Dubuque Community School District to host Black History and Reading
Challenge which will feature monthly discussions regarding A New Origin Story:
The 1619 Project by Iowa native Nikole Hannah -Jones. The last Sunday of each
month, two chapters of the book will be discussed. The first meeting is taking
place on Sunday, February 26 from 3-4 pm.
• The February/March Art @ Your Library show features works by artists Wildlife
Painter Catherine Basten, Wood Turner Lyndal Anthony, Wood Burner Joan
Overhouse, and Stone Jewelry Artist A. Alanda Gregory.
• Over 1700 items were donated during the 2022 Food Pantry. Items were donated
by library staff, patrons, and using some grant funds.
