The entire sector experienced significant economic setbacks - restrictions on gatherings, changes in consumer behavior, unemployment. Jenni promptly initiated a weekly virtual gathering of our local arts and culture nonprofits. What began as a sounding board and ideation opportunity for participants to work through challenges grew into access to grants and creative methods to keep programming alive and available to audiences. Jenni's initiative in researching and posting available grants made this possible. Today, there is not one local nonprofit arts & cultural organization that closed its doors due to the pandemic. Jenni's efforts played a key role in this success story. In 2021 Jenni secured a $500,000 NEA grant which is now strengthening our local arts and culture nonprofits by sub-granting funds for their operations. In addition to finding funding, one of Jenni's gifts is connecting creatives to each other. In 2021, she launched the Creatives Cafe - gathering groups of 40-50 participants from the creative economy in a relaxed forum to network and share their vision of arts and culture in Dubuque. Jenni combines creativity and ingenuity with vision, determination, and people skills to shape resources and programs that will have long- lasting impacts for Dubuque and Iowa. 4 ` , sy ,;`.. •.,: '., , , > . ,L,{' ; ti ;4 y . r }¢ ' ` w..• ; "` I, ^"' , ' `-"'' i, 'l "i ' - .
