I My Commission Expires row. 12/11/2025 Ad text : CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS SPECIAL SESSION The Dubuque City Council met in special session at 6:30 p.m. on March 8, 2023, in the second -floor Council Chambers of the Historic Federal Building, 350 W. 6th Street. Present: Mayor Cavanagh; Council Members Farber, Jones, Resnick, Roussell, Sprank, Wethal; City Manager Van Milligen. Mayor Cavanagh read the call and stated this is a special session of the City Council called for the purpose of conducting public hearings on certain Fiscal Year 2024 Department Budgets. PUBLIC HEARINGS FISCAL YEAR 2024 DEPARTMENT BUDGETS Fiscal Year 2024 City department budgets were presented by staff from the following departments: Leisure Services Manager Marie Ware provided introductory remarks on behalf of the Leisure Services Department. 1. Parks Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Marie Ware, Leisure Services Manager. 2. Multicultural Family Center Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Umaru Balde, Multicultural Family Center Director. 3. Community Impact Division (formerly AmeriCorps) Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Heather Satterly, Community Impact Director. 4. Recreation Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Presentation: Dan Kroger, Recreation Division Manager. Staff responded to questions from the City Council following their respective presentation. City Clerk Breitfelder announced that written input was received by Cathy Brimeyer regarding Public Hearing No. 1. Regarding Public Hearing No. 2, Heidi Zull, 1530 Jackson St.; Jessica (Indigo) Perry, 2920 Central Ave. #2; Olivia Neugel; Tessie Strohm, 1850 Avoca St.; and Yara Lopez respectively provided input in support of a full-time site supervisor position. City Clerk Breitfelder announced that written input was received by Kalee Kerper, 1071 Main St.; as well as from Ms. Zull and Ms. Strohm. CLOSED SESSION Motion by Jones to convene in closed session at 10:03 p.m. to discuss Purchase or Sale of Real Estate Chapter 21.5(1)0) Code of Iowa. Seconded by Wethal. Mayor Cavanagh stated for the record that the attorney who will consult with City Council on the issues to be discussed in the closed session is City Attorney Brumwell. Motion carried 7-0. The City Council reconvened in open session at 11:07 p.m. stating that staff had been given proper direction.
