SUGGESTED DISPOSITION: ATTACHMENTS: Description Type Proclamation Supporting Documentation 'fHE CI'fY pF Du8 E Masferprece on the Misszssrpyz ������������ WHEREAS, historic preservation is an effective tool for telling a more complete story of our community, managing growth, revitalizing neighborhoods, creating sustainable communities, fostering local pride, and enhancing livability; and WHEREAS, historic preservation is relevant for communities across the nation, both urban and rural, and for residents of all ages, all walks of life and all ethnic backgrounds; and WHEREAS, it is important to celebrate the role of history in our lives and the contributions made by dedicated individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the heritage that has shaped us as a people; and WHEREAS, the City honors preservation efforts annually through the Ken Kringle Historic Preservation Awards, in partnership with the Dubuque County Historic Preservation Commission and Dubuque Main Street, taking place on May 2�d this year; and WHEREAS, Preservation Month, celebrating the theme, People Saving Places, and sponsored by the City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission, is an opportunity for the community to celebrate the people who are preserving our history and architecture that is significant to our community's past and future. NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF, AND RESIDENTS OF DUBUQUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE MONTH OF MAY 2023 AS "PRESERVATION MONTH" IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, CALLING UPON OUR RESIDENTS TO JOIN FELLOW RESIDENTS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES IN RECOGNIZING AND PARTICIPATING IN THIS SPECIAL OBSERVANCE.
