From the Meeting March, 23 2023
Present: Pam Mullin, President; Greg Gorton, Vice President; Andy Bland, Secretary;
and Trustees, Robert Armstrong, Alanda Gregory, Victor Lieberman, Christy Monk
• The Board approved library expenditures
• The Board of Trustees approved implementation of a space needs study and
charged the Operations Committee to prepare a request for proposals.
• The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubuque County
Library District to distribute materials and ease patron use between the two
institutions.
• 82 Curbside visits in February.
• The library saw increases in circulation, visitors, and computer and Wi-Fi usage
in February compared to February 2022.
• The Bridge to Reading award is a program that was created by Youth Services
Manager Danielle Day, was piloted in Dubuque, and is now a statewide award run
by the Youth Services division of the Iowa Library Association. The committee
held a virtual meeting announcing this year's top ten Storytime books. Twenty
different local agencies agree to participate by reading all 10 books with
approximately 2,000 Dubuque area preschool age students and having the
students vote for a winner.
• Discussions for the Dubuque County Reads book Sitting Prett�by Rebekah
Taussig will take place at partnering libraries throughout the County in April.
• Authar Varian Johnson will be in the Library on Tuesday, Apri125 at 6 pm. He is
the author of several books for children and young adults. Johnson will also be
providing programs at two Dubuque Community Schools.
