PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, May 20, 2023, is the thirteenth Kids to Parks Day organized and
launched by the National Park Trust held annually on the third
Saturday of May; and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day empowers kids and encourages families to get out-
doors and visit America's parks, public lands and waters; and
WHEREAS, we should encourage children to lead a more active lifestyle to combat
issues of childhood obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and high choles-
terol; and
WHEREAS, physical activity is a key to good health and increased use of parks and
green spaces is essential to health and wellness of children and adults;
and
WHEREAS, Kids to Parks Day will broaden children's appreciation for nature and
outdoors.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BRAD M. CAVANAGH, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF DUBUQUE,
IOWA, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, STAFF AND RESIDENTS OF DUBU-
QUE, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THE 20th DAY OF MAY 2023 AS
"KIDS TO PARKS DAY"
IN THE CITY OF DUBUQUE, IOWA, AND URGE RESIDENTS TO MAKE TIME ON
MAY 20th TO TAKE THE CHILDREN IN THEIR HOUSEHOLD TO A NEIGHBORHOOD,
STATE, OR NATIONAL PARK.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have
hereunto set my hand and caused the
Great Seal of the City of Dubuque to be
affixed this 15th day of May 2023.
